Diwali, the ‘festival of lights’ is an ancient Hindu festival which this year falls on 7th November. The five-day festival signifies light, hope and new beginnings as well as the start of the Hindu New Year.

The festival’s last day celebrates the love and lifelong bond between siblings. It is generally accepted that foster care needs more carers that are able to provide support for siblings and more carers from a greater diversity to promote the heritage of children and young people. But what is a sibling in today’s diverse society, children living together, blood relatives, half siblings, foster siblings?

Do you know potential foster carers that could promote the heritage of a child or have the space to accommodate sibling groups? To find out more about celebrating Diwali and pass on the message of care to potential foster carers, please click here.
