Every Child Protected Against Trafficking (ECPAT) and Missing People have published a report investigating the number of trafficked children in the care of local authorities who go missing from the system across the UK.

Key findings include: in 2017 there were 1,015 children reported by local authorities as identified or suspected victims of trafficking with 246 (24 per cent) going missing from the care system; there were 5,780 unaccompanied and trafficked children reported as being in local authority care in 2017, an 8 per cent increase on 2014/15.
