The Children and Social Work Act 2017 introduced the requirement for local authorities to publish a ‘Care Leaver Offer’ outlining the services it offers to care leavers as a result of its functions under the Children Act 1989, as well as other services available within the local authority area which may help care leavers prepare for adulthood and independent living. In order to help councils with the development of their Local Offer for Care Leavers, the Children’s Society has produced a practical guide which includes examples of best practice and recommendations about the topics that should be covered, and also considers how the local offer should be managed and kept up to date.

The guide can be downloaded from the Children’s Society website.
