There appears to be an increasing expectation that Foster Carers arrange public liability insurance.. Any views about this welcome….

I thought this was the responsibility of the fostering service. When did this change?

I’ve come across a couple of Foster Carers who have been written to by their LA to ask them to provide this… Not sure where in the regs this would come under? Anyone any ideas?

Schedule 5 of the Fostering Service Regulations specifies the Matters and Obligations in Foster Care Agreements.

    This includes:

arrangements for meeting any legal liabilities of the foster parent arising by reason of a placement.

so this would be detailed in the fostering agreement and if not there is no expectations for carers to have this insurance?

I hope not as fostered for 15 years now and never had any!!!!
