Was having an interesting chat with some other carers about Pupil Premium and there seems to be huge differences on how this is spent school to school. In some cases each eligible child seemed to have their own ‘pot’ spent exclusively on them for things such as one to one, study guides, school trips……..even a camera; whilst other schools seem to pool resources for more Teaching Assistants etc. Just wondered what other peoples experiences are?

It still seems to be the case that schools have a great deal of flexibility regarding what PP is spent on. This may be a good thing as it can be used creatively to promote the child/YP’s education. All looked after children should have annual PEP meetings and LAC reviews. If there are any concerns that PP is not being accessed or used inappropriately this issue can be raised at these meetings.
