Please leave your experiences and comments on the Staying Put Arrangements and how they have impacted on your fostering since the bill was passed. What have been your positives and negatives?

Bit early for me yet but as my 17 year old approaches 18 it will be interesting to see what happens next!!
    Will watch this with interest.

It seems that in some cases Foster Carers are being given little or no information regarding how Staying Put arrangements will impact on them financially.

I agree there seems a real lack of knowledge about this and carers feeling that social workers have no information and they would like experts in this area.

I was told today for our LA nothing had changed and staying put would be identical to old supported lodgings…………..

    Hi Leanne
Has your 17 year old young person got a ‘Pathway Plan’? If so.. does this detail post fostering arrangements for where they live and who will fund?

George Osborne has just moved to stop 18- to 21-year-olds from being entitled to housing benefit at all. I wonder how this will impact on care leavers who are having to claim this benefit.

I think there may be exemptions for care leavers but there will need to be clarification.
