The Centre for Social Justice has written a report for the Children’s Commissioner for England examining the availability of apprenticeships and traineeships to care leavers and the barriers that prevent care leavers becoming apprentices.

The report, ‘Delivering a care leavers’ strategy for traineeships and apprenticeships’, shows that poor promotion and support prevents care leavers from becoming apprentices with only around 3% of all young people in care aged 16-18 being on apprenticeships last year compared to around 10% of the same age group in the general population.

Further information is provided in the Children’s Commissioner’s press release and the report is available here.
