The BBC reports on findings from a Freedom of Information (FOI) request looking at the time it took local authorities to issue education, health and care (EHC) plans, which set out to support children with special educational needs are entitled to.
Findings from 65 councils, out of 152 contacted, who provided comparable data for the last four academic years show that 26,505 applications over that period took longer to finalise than the 20 weeks normally required by law.
