Youth offender support

Today (25 June 2015) FosterTalk is celebrating its second year anniversary of delivering Fosterline on behalf of the Department for Education by encouraging the community to pose with Fosterline posters.

The foster carer recruitment campaign is designed to encourage those thinking about becoming foster carers to discuss their options, concerns or questions confidentially with experienced trained advisors. Inspired by the need for more foster carers countrywide, FosterTalk has decided to use their second anniversary of delivering Fosterline to highlight this shortage in England, whilst also encouraging potential foster carers to step forward and call Fosterline for more information.

FosterTalk has delivered Fosterline on behalf of the Department for Education for the last two years and has recently earned Accreditation to the Helplines Standard after a rigourous assessment. An independent evaluation of Fosterline conducted by Birmingham City University found in its key observations that Fosterline is crucial to the recruitment and retnetion of foster carers as reported by 77.1% of existing foster carers and 85.7% of prospective foster carers that have accessed the service.

Fosterline Manager, Steven Stockley said, “I am proud to manage Fosterline as a free, impartial and confidential service to foster carers in England and for those considering fostering. The foster carer recruitment poster campaign is a fun way of raising awareness of Fosterline and recognising the support from a varied number of businesses and organisations for Fosterline and ultimately the foster carers of England. As a foster carer I’m keen to encourage more current and prospective foster carers to contact us. The more foster carers we can support and the more prospective foster carers that call us, the more we can influence better outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the care system. I’m grateful to all those so far that have posed with a poster and would love for more people to take part.”
