Here’s what you need to know about children and self-harm

Almost twice as many children were admitted to hospital after self-harming than five years ago.

The number of under-16s hospitalised after self-harming in England has increased by 76 per cent in the last five years, according to statistics obtained by New Day.

According to data from the Health and Social Care Information Centre, 6,882 under-16s were admitted in 2009/10. In 2014/15, this number had gone up to 12,119.
