The Children’s Society has published new research on return home interviews (RHIs) (also known as debriefs) for children who go missing from home or care in England and Wales. Findings include: in areas of England that reported data just above 50% of missing incidents resulted in an RHI being undertaken; and uptake rates for RHIs vary widely between areas.

Recommendations include: facilitate training for staff conducting RHIs or debriefs; encourage flexibility around delivery; and develop structures for information sharing.
