The Guardian and the Local Government Association (LGA) have published findings from analysis which shows that: 133 out of 152 councils (88 per cent) responsible for children’s services in England overspent in 2017-18 and local authorities went over budget on children’s social care by an estimated £807 million, the highest area of overspending in council budgets.
