Ofsted has published inspection data and information about the providers and places of children’s social care in England, and inspection outcomes for local authority children’s services. Findings show that as at 31 March 2019: there were 2,304 children’s homes of all types (children’s homes, residential special schools registered as children’s homes and secure children’s homes), of which 80% were judged good or outstanding at their most recent inspection; 46% of local authorities were judged as good or outstanding for overall effectiveness.
