Ofsted has published Fostering in England statistics for the period 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017. The figures show that: agencies reported 52,005 children and young people in placement on 31 March 2017; the proportion of young people staying put with their foster family after turning 18 during the year decreased by eight percentage points in comparison with last year – 46% (1,570) stayed put in 2016 to 2017 compared with 54% (2,190) in 2015 to 2016.
