Care planning and the achievement of permanence is vital for all children known to the local authority.

The Department for Education requires your help to provide consultation on a knowledge and skills statement for child and family social workers involved in the permanence planning for a child.

The Department for Education is actively seeking the views of people working within the sector and encourage the response from the following;

  • Local authorities
  • Young people
  • Foster carers
  • Adoptive parents
  • Social workers

The Department for Education is keen to receive responses from as many people in as many different roles as possible that have a bearing on the permanence planning for a child. Your views will help inform the consultation to produce a knowledge and skills statement of what social workers need to know and be able to do in order to successfully progress permanence plans with urgency and skill along with forming the content of the continuous professional development programme.

Please follow the link to the consultation https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/knowledge-and-skills-statement-for-achieving-permanence and share this information with your colleagues, foster carers or anyone that fits the criteria.

Closing date: 9th September 2016
