The Institute of Health Visiting has published its annual report for 2018. The report compares feedback from its 2018 annual survey of over 1200 health visitors with responses they gave in 2015. The report highlights that health visitors are finding their time increasingly focused on safeguarding families who would once have been the responsibility of social services. 36 per cent of health visitors report working with children on a child protection plan all of the time or very often; 63 per cent of health visitors believe that focusing only on those most at risk is diluting the universal service, so that needs go unrecognised.
