The House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts has published a report following their inquiry into mental health services for children and young people in England.

The inquiry looked at how Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England spent additional funding for mental health services for children and young people, and examined the reliability of government data and whether NHS targets will meet the increasing demand for these services.

Recommendations include that NHS England provides annual updates on: the number of young people referred for treatment, how long they had to wait and the human cost to those who did not receive treatment; progress in setting up mental health support teams in schools; and action to tackle mental health problems earlier in children and young people.
