A care experienced trainee social worker has written an open letter to the chief social worker for children, Isabelle Trowler, saying that the profession needs specialist LGBTQ+ practitioners to ensure truly inclusive services. Reena Syed who wrote the letter also makes a number of suggestions on how to change social work education and three immediate steps that social workers can take to ensure that LGBTQ+ people feel genuinely supported.
