JUSTICE has published a working party report, examining the processes used to make and review a decision to exclude permanently a pupil in England.

The report calls for change to the current system, and makes recommendations including: better training for schools on excluding pupils; more consistent consideration of unmet needs, particularly special educational and health needs; and better communication between the school, the pupil and the parents and carers by listening to the family’s side.
