The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has published new research which found that 55% of victims and survivors who came forward to the Inquiry did not report that they were being sexually abused at the time it was happening.

Over 2,500 victims and survivors of child sexual abuse have shared their experiences with the inquiry’s Truth Project and 1,697 of these personal accounts has been analysed for research purposes. 11% of participants were under four years old when the abuse started, and 31% were between 4 and 7 years old.
