Kamarun has been a Fosterline Advisor since 2016 (minus a 5wk sabbatical). When asked ‘Why social work?’ she said: “I chose social work to prevent other kids from being hurt as I grew up in a home with domestic violence so decided to help prevent it and knew I was a ‘helper’ from a young age so it was always going to be a career like social work for me.
“I had a placement whilst at Uni at the local office safeguarding team aged 19 and found it very insightful, after I graduated that same team manager gave me my first paid social work job and so my career kicked off. My first job was in a safeguarding local authority team as a locum social worker. I remained working as a locum and worked across several jobs in social work in a range of local authorities and voluntary organisations and eventually settled on my first ever permanent role 20 years after graduating here at Fostertalk/Fosterline. I spent 20 years as a locum.
“Since starting at FosterLine I also embarked on a career in Psychotherapy and worked and studied and now work part time at FosterLine as well as part time in my Private Practice helping clients with a variety of mental health issues.”

What attracted you to FosterLine: Flexible working hours and the position was unusual and covered lots of areas of social work.
Favourite pet: Parrot coco but I love cats
Favourite food: Love anything that is edible just not marmite yuk! Fave cuisine aside from my own Indian is Chinese 😊
Dislikes: Dishonesty and inauthentic people, also have dislike of marmite!
Strange fact about yourself: I met my husband of 22 years at the bus stop whilst on work experience at Uni, I have had my own radio show, flown a plane and paraglided in Spain. Nearly drowned in quicksand aged 14 whilst on holiday abroad and can energy heal as a therapist as well as offer standard therapy services. I also celebrated my 21st birthday in New York at the top of the twin towers revolving restaurant ‘Windows of the World’ in 2001 before the tragic incident.
