The Children’s Society has published a report looking at access by children and young people aged 10 to 17 to specialist NHS mental health services across England. Estimates extrapolated from Freedom of Information (FOI) request responses from 25 of the 63 NHS providers of specialist Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services (NHS CYPMHS) suggest that around 185,000 young people aged 10-17 were referred to specialist mental health services in 2017 of which 78,000 would have received treatment in the same year.
