The Social Market Foundation has published a report assessing the standard of care provision for looked after children in England. Analysis of Department for Education data on looked after children and Ofsted inspection results shows that of the 75,420 children in care in 2018, 48,723 (65%) were cared for in local authorities that are rated “inadequate” or that “require improvement”.

 

An interactive data dashboard for each local authority in England has been created alongside the report providing a picture of how they are performing in terms of standards of care provision to looked after children.
