The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking views on proposed regulations that will introduce quality standards and registration and inspection requirements for providers of supported accommodation for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 and 17 (also referred to as independent, semi-independent or unregulated provision). The DfE is inviting views through three main sections of the consultation on the quality standards providers will adhere to, the management and administrative requirements on providers and Ofsted registration, inspection and enforcement and provider accountability. This consultation is aimed at providers of supported accommodation, local authorities, the children’s social care workforce and relevant national public, private and charitable sector organisations.

Closing date: 16 January 2023

Further information and a link to the consultation are available on the DfE website, and a version of the consultation aimed at care-experienced young people is also available on the DfE website.
