On Thursday 11th July 2019, Nadhim Zahawi, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families, visited the Martin James Group offices as a guest of FosterTalk. FosterTalk provides independent support to foster carers and their families throughout the UK and is committed to the welfare and opportunities for children in care.

 

FosterTalk have been delivering the DfE’s Fosterline service since June 2013 and have established positive relationships with the incumbent Children’s Minister throughout those years of delivery. Since his appointment in January 2018, FosterTalk have sought the visit of the current Minister Nadhim Zahawi.

 

Steve Stockley, Head of Service at Foster Talk said of the visit: “We were delighted to have had the Minister with us here at the Martin James Group offices. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to introduce him to the collaboration between Foster Talk and the Martin James Foundation.”

 

The intention of the visit was to acquaint him with the independent service he commissions and introduce him to the collaboration between FosterTalk and the Martin James Group of organisations to establish a centre of excellence for foster care in the UK. The Minister’s focus was to meet foster carers and social workers, celebrating their contribution to deinstitutionalized care.

 

Jim Cockburn founder of the Martin James Foundation added: “We were thrilled to be meeting with the Minister – it was so important for us to show the Minister and for him to understand everything that the organisation does.”
